Kirkstall St. Stephen’s C of E (Voluntary Aided) Primary School

PSHE (personal, social, health and economic) education is an ‘important and necessary part of all pupil’s education.’ (Department for Education)

At Kirkstall St Stephen's C of E Primary School we aim to provide a PSHE education which ‘gives pupils the knowledge, skills, and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe and to prepare them for life and work in modern Britain.’ (PSHE Association)

We follow the Cambridgeshire Primary Personal Development Programme. PSHE is taught as a discrete subject once a week by the class teachers. However, it is also covered through many other areas of school life. A copy of the Programme of Study for Reception – Year 6 can be obtained by request from the school office.

As a school we also teach Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) to enhance our curriculum provision and to ensure our pupils are given the best opportunitiy to be prepared for life in the wider world.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of
all children, and expects our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
