Common Exception words
For children to be working towards the expected standard by the end of Year 2 they are expected to be able to spell SOME of the words (approx. 10) To be working at the expected standard children are expected to be able to spell MANY words which is around 60% (approx. 38) To be working at greater depth children are expected to be able to spell MOST words (above 60%)
Year 2 have 64 common exception words that children are expected to be able to read and write most of by the time they leave Year 2. The word list is attached in the documents and hard copies will also be given out in the beginning of Year 2. Spare copies are always available from class.
